Welcome to LEADER

Mark Norris When Jacques Schneider, together with a handful of colleagues from the training department at the Savoy Group, set up Profile in 1978, who could have imagined the parallel futures awaiting our company and the international hospitality industry?

Thirty years on, Profile has offices in London, Paris, New York and Shanghai. The hospitality industry has flourished into a global powerhouse, generating billions in revenue and creating millions of jobs. At the elite end of the industry, which is our market, our clients sell their customers dream-like experiences. And for those wishing to work for the best exponents of our industry, Profile helps to make their dreams come true.

We’re grateful for the loyal support of the many thousands of Profile friends, old and new, who have trusted us as a guiding hand in their careers, and of course to our loyal clients. I for one am unbelievably lucky to have such a fantastic team of consultants and the support of my Co-Directors Liz Hartstone, Michele Alguacil, James Hey, Rupert Sellers and Winnie Chiu who make it all happen.

Looking back over the years and analysing over 6000 assignments that we have successfully undertaken at all levels of management, there is one quality that has consistently been in demand more than anything else, and that is leadership. With this in mind, we have chosen Leader as the title for our new communiqué and every quarter we will make it our business to showcase the best examples of leadership we can find.

Furthermore, in our day-to-day dealings we have the privilege of hearing a good many fascinating stories from our contacts. Hopefully you will enjoy sharing some of these with us in the years to come, in the same way that has proved so popular with our sister publication, Journal, for marketing, sales and PR professionals in the hospitality industry. By contrast, the focus of Leader will be towards operations management.

I very much hope you will find Leader a valuable resource for sharing and exchanging knowledge, communicating innovative ideas and practices, and keeping us all on top of the fast moving world of hospitality we live in.
